In Christ?



            “What are the two most powerful words in scripture?” the speaker asked.  Then he answered his own question with two words: “In Christ”.
 
            I sat there for minute and then thought, “He may have a point.”  

           I am sure that one could make a case for other phrases as well, but a quick survey of the New Testament will show that “In Christ” is right up there. 

            For example, Romans 6:11 says that we are to be, “Dead to sin but alive to God in Christ.”

            Romans 8:1 says that “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.”

            In verse 38 of the same chapter we read that “Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

             “In Christ we who are many form one body” (Romans 12:5).

            The introduction to the letter of 1 Corinthians says, “To those sanctified [made Holy] in Christ Jesus … I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus” (1:2 and 4).

            “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Cor. 5:17)

            “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them” (1 Cor. 5:19).

            Galatians 3 reminds us that we are “one in Christ” (Verse 28).

            We have “every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

            Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

            We are also reminded that, at the end of time, “The dead in Christ will rise first” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

            That is just a sample of what the New Testament has to say.  In fact, the phrase “in Christ” more than ninety times and it is tied to all sorts of blessings both now and in eternity.

            Maybe “in Christ” is the most powerful phrase in the Bible.  It certainly is to be the most powerful place to be.

            Are you “in Christ”?

            “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:26-27).

hmm interesting! i have written about all the blessings we have "in Christ" from the book of Epehsians but this has broadened my view! inspiring post for me today, thanks!

Consider This: What is so Great About Grace?

If you were to drive by our house, you would see that Sara loves plants.  Our yard is full of flowers, and Sara lovingly tends every one of them. Which is why I was so afraid when she left town and put me in charge of keeping things alive. She must have been a little concerned, too, because she sent me two videos with specific instructions on how to water, when to water, and what to do.  Honestly, those first two videos helped, but the third one she sent was the one I liked most.  In that one, she said, “Please do your best.   Consider This:  Press the Button! My favourite TV game show is Jeopardy.  I used to like it even more when my kids were younger, because I could easily beat them and look smart.  These days, after they have grown up and gone to university, it is much more difficult.  However, Jeopardy is still the only game show I will watch. In a book I read, a contestant who did very well on the show shared the secret to his success.  He said (and I am paraphrasing here), “You must press the button before you know the answer.  Everyone on Jeopardy is smart. Everyone knows the answer.
