Consider this

 If you are waiting for God's answer, maybe there is a good reason.  

                 As my twenty-month-old granddaughter pushed her plastic shopping cart through our house, she ran into the transition strip separating the living room’s flooring from that in the kitchen.   It stopped her in her tracks and so she turned, looked up at me, held her hand out and said, “help!”.   It was not a demand.   She was not mad or frustrated.   She just realized that she had come up against something she could not fix on her own.   After I lifted the cart over the transition strip, she said, “thank you” and carried on down the hallway.                  Unfortunately, I am not like her.   My pride makes it hard to ask for help.   My jealousy makes it difficult to be thankful.   For too many years, I lived under the illusion that I got to where I am on my own, but the truth is that...

 Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than receive" (Acts 20:35). Here are three reasons why that is true.   

 The ability to be where you are, good or bad, and still see your blessings is one of the keys to happiness. It all starts with learning this secret.  

 

               “Let your gentleness be evident to all” (Philippians 4:5).                Sara has set up personalized ringtones on her phone.   Without even checking, we know immediately who is calling because the sound of the ring identifies them.                The verse quoted above suggests that an attitude of gentleness should play a similar role in the life of a Christian.   Gentleness is the quality that should identify us.   We ought to be known as gentle people.   Every interaction with every person ought to be bathed in this attitude.                The good news is that this is something that we can do.   Everyone acts and reacts in a gentle way once in a while.  ...

                 In 2018, I attended the Indianapolis 500.   Every year, more than 300 000 people show up at the track making it the biggest single-day sporting event in the world.   However, not everyone is there for the same reason.   Some, like my brother and me, go there to watch the race.   More than 50 000 other people ignore the race completely and watch concerts in the infield.   Some are there to sell you drinks, hot dogs, or a new cellphone.   When the race ends, everyone piles out of the speedway and heads in their own direction resulting in traffic jams all over the place.   It took us more than seven hours to travel the sixty miles back to our hotel room.                As I thought about it afterwards, I realized that be...
